Vision

Home economics strives to solve the most present as well as those of the future. It’s being a subject that undertakes the study of all aspects of home and family life, does prepare its learners to plan ahead of time so that they will not be outwitted by alarming and overwhelming changes that occur in the society.

Home economics is dynamic and moves with or ahead of time, it applies every new knowledge and skill that evolves in the contemporary society to solving family, community, national and global problems. It generates knowledge as well as uses concept from other fields and it applies this information to help individuals and families improve their lives for now and in the future. Generating income for the department through sales of snacks and other items purchase and use of mini industrial oven that can use charcoal other then gas.

Overview

The department had her humble beginning same time the college began in 1982 with no specialist in the department. The department was then headed by Mr. C. Nwoko (Ag Head of Department) who was a lecturer in physical and health education department .Staff strength then was three (3) academic staff. Later Miss. Irondi, became the first specialist to head the department.

The later followed by late Mrs. Grace Naswem, Mrs. Ceceilia, Ahia, Mrs. Monica Ityough K. later Mrs. Glory, Okongor, Mrs. Ofem, Obono M. E. and presently Mrs. Ann Dilim Ikwuazom. In her second tenure the department relocates to Bebi Campus in 2014. The department gradually progressed in staff strength to Nine (9) academic staff, seven (7) non academic staff. The department has since then graduated so many students four of whom are presently academic staff of the department. One is currently head of department.
