Overview
In line with the provision of the 2012 edition of the NCCE minimum standards, the Academic Board of the Federal College of Education, Obudu formerly created the School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education in its regular meeting of December 1, 2015. It is a 2 – department school comprising of Early Childhood Care and Development Education and Primary Education respectively.
However, election for the exhausted position of the pioneer Dean of the school was conducted on February 17, 2016. Godwin Awori Ochuema Ph. D emerged the winner of the election. Dr. Ochuema assumed duty of the school on February 23, 2016 following a letter of return N0. FCE/OB/723/Vol. IV/477 of February 23, 2016 for a 2 – year tenure.
Being a specialized school in the area of Childhood Education, the school is created to train teachers primarily to teach children at their formative years i.e. Nursery and Primary Schools, these being the foundation stone upon which the educational structure rest. Academic staff of the two departments are therefore mostly specialists in Childhood Education and are competent to train NCE Teachers who are expected to teach children and lay a sound foundation for the educational pursuit of the Nigerian child.
