To kick-start the work of the recently inaugurated Presidential Visitation Panel to the College, the Chairman, Professor Armstrong Adejoh and his other members held their first meeting with members of the College Management team led by the Acting Provost, Alhaji Ladan Chado. The Visitation panel was specifically constituted by the Federal Government of Nigeria to carry out inquest into the activities and operation of the College from 2011 to 2020.
While formally welcoming the Chairman and members of the panel to the College, the Acting Provost expressed satisfaction with the composition of the membership of the Panel and noted that it was made up of eminent scholars and versatile administrators with vast experience in the public service.
Speaking on behalf of the Panel, Professor Adejoh profusely thanked the Acting Provost and members of the College Management Committee for granting them audience and creating an enabling environment for them to do their work. He said the panel was put in place by the federal government to inquire into the activities and operation of the College during the period under review. Essentially, he said the panel would examine the leadership quality of the College, especially in terms of the roles of the Governing council, Provost and other principal Officers of the College, as well as other organs of the institution.
The Chairman pointed out that the job of the presidential Visitation Panel was going to be a very strenuous exercise because it will inquire into the activities and operations of the College starting from 2011 till date. This, according to him, requires the cooperation of the entire College Community. He said that the panel will make effort to look into the financial management of the college which includes the statutory allocations and internally generated revenue (IGR) of the institution during the period and determine whether they are in compliance with appropriate regulations. Finally, he said the panel will look into and examine the adequacy of Staff and Staff development of the College.
Other members of the presidential Visitation Panel are: Barrister Ebele Obi, Hajia Habiba Soba, Dr. Shuaibu Abdulahi, Alhaji Yerima Sale and Aliyu Ibrahim Ibrahim who is the secretary.
